Ingmar Swalue Photography's approach to capturing the essence of Delhaas' collection is deeply rooted in the stylistic elements of the 1930s. The project's unique properties lie in its ability to create an atmosphere that suits the collection, delivering a modern yet timeless black and white aesthetic. The strength of this design is its ability to evoke a sense of nostalgia while maintaining a contemporary edge.
The realization of this project was achieved through high-resolution digital photography and photo manipulation using Adobe Photoshop. The process involved close collaboration between the photographer and the client, with the final choices made during the shoot. The resulting images are intended for use across various digital platforms for social, press, and online sales purposes.
The project, which took about a month to complete, began with visual research into black and white photography from the 1930s. The team drew inspiration from Man Ray's photograms for abstract inspiration, and Alexander Rodchenko's photography for line work. These influences were translated into modern day photography, resulting in a collection of images that are contemporary yet timeless.
One of the challenges faced during the project was achieving the perfect angles to create an even composition with deliberate intersecting lines and surfaces. However, the team's dedication and expertise enabled them to overcome this hurdle, resulting in a collection of images that are minimalist yet exciting and unique to look at.
Delhaas C19 has been recognized for its outstanding expertise and innovation, earning the Silver A' Photography and Photo Manipulation Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder. The project is a testament to Ingmar Swalue Photography's commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and photography.
